If you're using msxml 4.0 you can use some of the new msxslt extensions,
namely: msxsl:format-date(), where
xmlns:msxsl="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:xslt".
Here's the usage:
<xsl:value-of select="msxsl:format-date( . , 'MMM dd, yyyy')"/>
In your case:
<TD valign="top" align="left" class="NormalBlackLimeBG">
<xsl:value-of select="msxsl:format-date(
dav:propstat/dav:prop/office:StartDate,
'ddd, MMM. dd')"/>
</TD>

Jeff

Subject: please help with date formatting
I'm just not getting this. I'm pulling a startdate value from a document
using a vbscript query and when I output it in XSL it appears like this:
2002-12-25T12:00:00.000
I need it to look like this: Wed, Dec. 25
I'm going in circles, I can't get it to work using vbscript functions to
xsl, can't use xsl to format it, I don't know what to do and its driving me
crazy. This particular sharepoint stylesheet uses these namespaces:
<xsl:stylesheet
xmlns:xsl="uri:xsl"
xmlns:dav="DAV:"
xmlns:office="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"
xmlns:attributes="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:publishing:"
xmlns:fulltext="urn:schemas.microsoft.com:fulltextqueryinfo:">
This is my XSL code that is generating the date:
<TD valign="top" align="left" class="NormalBlackLimeBG">
<xsl:value-of select="dav:propstat/dav:prop/office:StartDate"/>
</TD>
