Does anybody know if it is possible to add a javascript variable
into an xsl:variable?

example:
<xsl:template match="/">
   <script language="javascript">
      function test(strID)
      {
         <xsl:variable name="varID">
            strID
         </xsl:variable>
         alert('<xsl:value-of select="$varID"/>
      }
   </script>
</xsl:template>
