Nearer to 98% of users of MSXML will not appreciate the finer points of document load options, simply using a tool that MS provides. We are repeatedly told that space is preserved within xsl:text elements. We use it like that and expect certain outcomes. I do think your/Mikes finer points should be taken to W3C, but for your customers, the choice should be compliance with their expectations.
