running table-header?

On my bank statement, I have a table of 
payments and withdrawals. 

At the top of each page I see a running
balance to that date.

Can XSL perform that without prior knowledge
of the page breaks, i.e. without specifying
where the breaks should be, where the formatter
determines page breaks?
