Jonathan, >Can anyone point me to the xsl api javadoc section that discusses this, and >or the w3c recommendation section. The section in the XSLT recommendation that talks about top-level (i.e. stylesheet) parameters is 11.4 (Top-Level Variables and Parameters) at <http://www.w3.org/TR/xslt#top-level-variables>. I'm afraid I don't know what XSL API Javadoc you're referring to, so can't help you specifically with that, but a search for 'parameter' might help.
