That sounds like a good idea, I'll try this.  I'm not sure if Norman's
approach would be cleaner but it sounds a bit difficult to get exactly
right (make sure that you can write the tmp file in question, make
sure that it gets found, make sure that it is deleted in due time).

Since we are not going to buy any replacement to XT anytime soon, this
implementation dependency should be okay...
