I'd expect more like 30 years, given the use of XML in consumer applicance, aircraft, car engines, shoes, etc. OK, maybe the shoes don't matter to me :-) but any recent television set with "upnp" broadcasts and receives XML messages to try and discover things like remote controls and video recorders. Really. What I call the "XML Promise" is that any XML processor is free (and able) to read any XML document. Breaking that promise cannot be done lightly.
