Hello,
An XML Name cannot begin with a number.
From the XML 1.0 Specs at http://www.w3.org/TR/2006/REC-xml-20060816/
(or see the formal definition at
http://www.w3.org/TR/2006/REC-xml-20060816/#IDANQDS or in the
off-chance you are trying to use XML 1.1, at
http://www.w3.org/TR/2006/REC-xml11-20060816/#IDAKUDS ):
A Name is a token beginning
with a letter or one of a few punctuation characters, and continuing
with
letters, digits, hyphens, underscores, colons, or full stops, together
known
as name characters.] Names beginning with the string "xml",
or with any string which would match (('X'|'x') ('M'|'m')
('L'|'l')),
are reserved for standardization in this or future versions of this
specification.
Note:
The
Namespaces in XML Recommendation http://www.w3.org/TR/2006/REC-xml-20060816/#xml-names assigns a meaning
to names containing colon characters. Therefore, authors should not use
the
colon in XML names except for namespace purposes, but XML processors
must
accept the colon as a name character.
best wishes,
Brett

Hi,
This is a very basic question on defining xml tags. I'm not sure if
this is the right forum to ask.
Anyway, <1-1>data</1-1> Is this not the proper syntax for xml tags as
per the XML standards. I could parse the xml tags <if1-1>data</if1-1>,
but not the previous one. I would like to know about this.
Thanks
Senthil
