Yes, it's newsfeeds, plain and simple.  Let 'em trash web pages with that
cruft, but keep it the hell out of newsfeeds.

On Syndic8 we deliberately mark out feeds that have that sort of content.

All this said, being able to include 'more intelligent' payloads does indeed
have merit.  The trick lies in drawing effective boundary on just how
intelligent those payloads can be tolerated as being.  The stuff being done
on things like start.com are fantastic ideas.  Not without potential perils
of course but truly clever.  Not new, by any stretch, but coming back around
for another try.
