interesting place lyon
XML is a technology similar in level and scope to the RDBMS, destined to have a similarly huge effect on the way computers and networks are applied. That there appears to be no coherent purpose, nor order in the way we collectively figure out what we can do with it should be no surprise.

SAX, DOM, XSLT, and SVG are among the agents that showed up to allow us to make stuff out of XML, and they're pretty new still. More will appear, as will more high-level schemata like RSS, XML-SCHEMA, OWL etc. that allow us to do more general things with such agents.

I don't think there's a more interesting place to be in the evolution of computing than XML. It will have a bigger effect more quickly than we realize, IMHO.

I should think everything will be just fine...

Just think back to the swamp analogy... the hippos get angry and annoyed with
the flies... after a while they get tired and go back to sleep...

Next day... flies and hippos start again on a happy note and it's another day
in the swamp..

nobody drains the swamp... life goes on...

So it is with xml...

It's a happy place..
