This data model is based on text, not binary data. This data model is related to but not identical to real XML. There are *many* infosets that cannot be expressed in well-formed XML (an infinite number in fact). There are also well-formed and even namespace well-formed XML documents that do not have infosets. Off the top of my head, I *think* that all namespace well-formed XML documents that only use absolute namespace URIs have well-defined infosets.
