Where does the "nothing left but toolkits" myth come from?

where myths come from

You always seem to forget that you're not the only one whose job brings
them into contact with a lot of developers, and who has observed their
habits. It just seems that I almost always observe opposite from yours.
In my experience, and a lot of my colleagues', hand-written XML by
average developers far outweighs toolkit-generated XML. Not necessarily
in volume (obviously, since it's hard to hand-generate a gigabyte XML
file, but a toolkit can produce such a mess in minutes), but in
importance. The hand-written XML tends to be far more important as
assets in the system than the toolkit-generated XML.

If you insist on this "hand-written XML is obsolete" theory enough to
use it as a case for focusing XML 2.0 on toolkits, you're going to have
to come up with a lot of evidence to back up your dubious claim.
