Etc. Just wanted to add: Your queries determine where you need an index, so if you add/remove an index, there is likely a reason to change/add/remove a query. That might be quite complicated too. Or you change your backend - you very likely have to rewrite quite a few queries - SQL isn't as standardized as it seems. And that is from experience too. The best way is to hide your data access specifics in a separate layer. That's the lesson to learn, not that one should always use SQL. Karl
