People have done amazing things with SAX event streams over the past
few years.  I will not claim to have planned or anticipated any of it
when I was throwing SAX together (I'm not that smart), but there is an
important lesson there: simple APIs (or specs) can unlock a lot of
creativity.  It would be neat to collect SAX design patterns
somewhere, if no one has already done so.
