True enough but the question is why there are so many DTDs in use. Because the simple applications are the most common and that means they aren't trivial. Some learn to do without the complexities of parameter entities and conditional sections, thus their world is simple, spec'd, and reliable. Complexity is a place one passes through while searching a very crowded world of similar but different things. It becomes simple when one can safely ignore the differences and pick one. Complexity is a property of the space of choices. Simplicity is a property of the act of choosing. len From: Michael Kay [mailto:michael.h.kay@n...] > > Or because they [DTDs] are easier to understand, I have yet to see a DTD of more than trivial size that is not totally impenetrable. And fragile too, if you are rash enough to make a one line change that breaks an entire edifice of parameter entities and conditional sections.
