I think Derek is right, but again, I'm interested in the strength of the consensus of the developers regardless of what they build. It is much easier to identify an XML tool builder than an XML user, and I do think the strong complaints are from the former. For documentation, Derek cites (in his order significant or not): 1. Allowed characters 2. Whitespace 3. Namespaces len From: Dare Obasanjo [mailto:dareo@m...] > -----Original Message----- > From: Hunsberger, Peter [mailto:Peter.Hunsberger@S...] > Since I don't have to write any tools to actually support > DTDs they actually sort of, almost, help me more than they > hinder. Maybe Len needs to divide the question between two > (more?) camps: 1) XML users, 2) XML tool builders? True. A lot of the complaints at the XML DevCon Mike Champion references are more from XML tool builders than from XML users. For example, I haven't really seen any users complain about DTDs especially when compared to the number of gripes I see weekly from Derek's top 3 list at http://nothing-more.blogspot.com/2004/10/where-xml-goes-astray.html
