Topologi Professional Edition 2.1 is a reporting, analytics and repair
tool for XML, as well as including a powerful Markup Editor. It has
proved itself in projects involving hundreds of thousands of
pages, and is particularly useful in markup and publishing projects.

The Professional Edition is designed to solve some of the most important
"difficult" problems that face real production processes:

 * An automative customer wants to check markup consistency: they want to
 know which terms have been tagged as <part>, then all other occurrences of
 the same term that have not been marked up as <part>.

 * A military customer requires that JPEG images follow the ISO standard
  ISO 10198-1; for non-standard images, they want to know whether the image
  is badly-formed or follows another standard such as EXIF; they want to
  be able to see the metadata, so they can track down applications that
  are generating non-standard images.

 * A stylesheet writer wants to see all the different values that
   have been used for an attribute "size".

 * A stylesheet writer wants to see all the contexts in which elements
  and attributes appear, and which elements can appear in the first
  position.

 * The project manager of an off-shore markup operation wants to check
  that her operators are marking up documents in the same way as the
  sample documents provided by the client. She also has a division of
  labour between high-skilled and low-skilled staff, and wants to be
  able to monitor the work quality and progress of both, even though
  documents are only valid against the DTD right at the deadline.

 * A pre-sales consultant wants to conveniently find out which elements
  are actually used by a client's document, when estimating the
  price and time of conversion operations.

 * A publisher has previously been burnt by out-sourced markup operations
  that did not perform adequate quality work, and has realized the problem
  was due to non-objective requirements specifications; they want to
  specify objective metrics measured by agreed tools to make future
  contracts clearer.

 * A programmer wants to quickly determine if a new document has new
  elements, or elements used in contexts that they have not previously
  been used in.

 * A document has many constraints that cannot be checked using
  DTDs, or even RELAX NG or XML Schemas.

 * The project manager of a markup project wishes to know how to reduce
  the number of keystrokes to the absolute minumum.

 * An aeronautical project requires inspections by quality auditors; the
  project manager realizes that they will be suitably impressed if he
  has graphical systems in place that reveal the state of his documents.

 * Management requires that the time-to-market of products needs to be
  reduced and that one proven way to do this is to reduce re-work by
  emphasizing Quality Assurance: QA requires measurement tools (such
  as Toplogi's validation and reporting facility)

 * A production house has a set of house rules, that they wish to
  be tested automatically, by expressing the house-rules in a Schematron
  schema.

 * A long-term operation has SGML documents that they have no immediate
 plans to converting to XML; however they would like to use more modern
 validation languages such as Schematron, RELAX NG and W3C XML Schemas.

 * A federated authoring system allows documents created using web-forms
 by users who are not expert enough understand well-formedness or validity.
 A WIKI-like format will be used, and converted to XML.

The Professional Edition components include:

 * Media Browser, allowing preview and metadata display of images, audio,
  video, and most common media formats;

 * Report generators, for analyzing the state of sets of documents;

 * Markup Editor allowing convenient mouse-based markup of large files,
  now with  spell-checking, line and tag locking, auto-incrementing
  ID generation using the markup pens, automated generation of templates
  from DTDs;

 * Tree Editor, with context-sensitive, multi-level insertion menus
  generated from DTDs;

 * Integration API allowing you to integrate disparate database,
  production web services and batch files into a seamless point-and-click
  user interface, over a self-registering P2P network.

Full validation is supported by each tool: the Markup Editor, the Tree
Editor, and multi-file validation from the Media Browser:-- WF, DTD,
Schematron, RELAX NG (full and compact syntaxes), XML Schemas, even
usage schemas created by sampling a document set.

Extras include:
 * Wiki to XML conversion
 * XQuery syntax mode
 * HTML validation
 * XSLT validation
 * Strain timer to warn on potentially dangerous periods of continuous
typing

The Windows version is available now. The Macintosh version (OS X 10.3)
and Linux versions are in pre-release testing and due soon. US$495,
discount available for existing Markup Editor users.
