RE: The Cognitive Style of PowerPoint
>What is the "cognitive style" of writing documents in XML vs. PowerPoint, >Word, or FrameMaker? Do the tools we use to write affect the way we think? Tools do affect the way we think just as languages, a tool of sort, affects the way we think. It has less to do with the audience or expressive constraints but capabilities. For example, when we create a slide presentation in XML, we are still concerned about the audience, screen size, etc., but we don't think about using colors and styles consistently to enhance the content at presentation or semantic levels: emphasizing or highlighting specific words or lines.
