The entire Internet infrastructure depends on tools created by volunteers, remember? Surely depending on volunteer efforts makes a community more susceptible to Darwinistic Doom, but in the end it could possibly also create a stronger community. As I pointed out in some other message on this subject, I'm pretty sure Oasis should be able to get their act together and delegate co-admin capabilities to some elected people of this list (like message/subscription moderation). Maybe that might already solve 'the problem'. Yes, qmail/ezmlm are pretty much BOFH-like when it comes to exception handling - but in the end, that might be exactly the reason why the combo easily supports big mailing lists and lots of message deliveries. If messages bounce, for whatever reason, most likely it's an upstream problem.
