They even took out ads trying to sell it as the 
original "killer app".   When some states wanted 
to adopt electrocution as the "humane form of 
execution", Westinghouse (I think), refused to 
build the generators for that application.  GE, 
on the other hand, was happy to do it.

That's competitive capitalism at work.

Edison used DC, getting AC adopted for executions to prove how
dangerous it was.  It was Westinghouse that used AC.
