I wonder whether RDF might be a good test case for a new kind of processing paradigm,
which I call "inline exemplars".

It is kind of like an architectural form, but you can leave off duplicates.
So the first time an element type or attribute is used, its role is explicitly
marked up and memoized, and subsequent elements or attributes of the
same name and context use that role.  (SGML fans: rather like adding
allowing #CURRENT on all ref:* attributes, keyed by the element name.)

This would allow annotation of existing documents -- a shortcoming of RDF now--,
reduce the need for explicit markup -- no requirement for DTD defaults--, and be
fairly robust when people miss out markup.
