 HTML+SVG is barely a stretch, HTML+MathML is sensible for particular Simon, But why HTML at all? What can HTML do that SVG can't already do or won't very soon be able to do? <suggestion>Put HTML/XHTML to one side ... it's yesterday's technology, after all .... and you will get (in a little time) your holy grail of XML on the Web.</suggestion> And why is SVG likely to be key in this? We will need to communicate visually to summarise the huge volumes of data that we will be inundated with. "An SVG picture is worth 1,000 XML words!" (c)(tm) Not only can SVG provide "pictures" but these, at the risk of stating the obvious, can be animated and interactive. SVG has enormous potential as a communication tool and is ideally suited to be a key technology in "XML on the Web". Just my $0.02.
