There is no conflict.  XML Namespaces are an interpretation - although
"officially sanctioned" - layered on the syntax of names.  There can be no
conflict, in fact, if the XML Namespaces advocates are right when they say
"You don't have to use them if you don't want to".

In a perfect world, XML Namespaces would be hanged, drawn, quartered,
incinerated, encased in lead and buried several thousand feet below the
ocean floor.
