Escape the community? I like the community.  

I wrote a different response but its of no 
value to this list.  Nothing is made better 
by ignorance of sources and causes, and nothing 
is made worse by failing to post yet another rant.

I will say that a copy of The SGML Handbook 
is still worth having.  Yuri and Charles did 
a fair job of offering help for SHUNCHAR, etc. 
Sometimes people have to dig into the innards.
