*chuckle* I could swear that MSFT types are all about Web Services given the amount of Microsoft names that adorn the W3C standards[0,1] and the various GxA initiatives by Microsoft[2,3]. If you want to criticize Joel's perspective you should perhaps look at the fact that his background is in platform specific , shrink wrapped software and thus the problems distributed application developers face have never been the same as his. For the first time, *everyone* is providing the same distributed systems infrastructure. As an application person, I don't have to get a JRE on every machine, or put a Corba/IIOP engine on the desktop, etc. The barrier to deployment of distributed applicaitons -- and soon, secure distributed applications -- is nearly zero. That's an important first. Joel, an MSFT type, either doesn't see or doesn't appreciate this. /r$ ----------------------------------------------------------------- The xml-dev list is sponsored by XML.org <http://www.xml.org>, an initiative of OASIS <http://www.oasis-open.org> The list archives are at http://lists.xml.org/archives/xml-dev/ To subscribe or unsubscribe from this list use the subscription manager: <http://lists.xml.org/ob/adm.pl>
