That's a subject which has always facinated me and is one of my favorite
rants. I see no reason why we couldn't define a XML serialization for
both the vanilla and the PSV infosets.

A long time ago, I had started some experiments[1] with the vanilla
infoset and have many times mentioned the idea of a XML serialization
for the PSVI on this list and I do think that these would be usefull
things to have... Other initiatives have been started in this domain,
including a nice proposal by Jonathan Borden.
