Determine first if these are actually problems (have an end solution) or polarities (are interdependent and to be managed). Does the requirement for self-awareness introduce a polar requirement or can it be broken down into a series of problems that have solutions with some remainder that are polar and must be managed (see prior remark on rising costs of metadata)? See http://www.polaritymanagement.com/frame02.htm All questions are not resolved by yes or no in all cases. The Turing Test is context-dependent: it depends on who must be fooled. It is solvable given a specific fool and polar in that fools won't remain such but manageable because a new fool can always be found. Thanks to the categoricalAbstraction list for that reference. len From: Benjamin Franz [mailto:snowhare@n...] _Prove_ that natural systems are "self-aware" (as opposed to just a convincing simulation there-of) and we'll discuss. ;) > Formally define "self-aware" and the answer will be either "yes" or "no" > :-)) 'Formally define.' Hold on. I'd like to introduce you to someone. Mr. Godel...Mr. Bullard. O.o
