Actually, providing simple type inferences would be trivial, and the only reason we hesitate on complex type inferences is that RNG handles 1-ambiguous (indeed N-ambigous) grammars, so a type inferencer would need to sometimes return multiple types. But this can be avoided by voluntary restrictions on grammars for those to whom type inferencing is important.
