Speaking for myself, I have absolutely no problem whatsoever with the general idea of using a schema.  Indeed I think it is good practice to declare the classes of valid XML.

My problem is with XSDL.  And even if XSDL were near perfect, I think it would still be a bad idea to weld its constructs into the heart of every other XML spec.
