I'm not sure how to answer that question.   XML is "architecture neutral"
to a great extent, although I'm sure we could spawn off a long-running thread
to debate how neutral :~) 

So, are we talking about the architecture of XML itself, the architecture
of the XML family of specifications [the short answer is that they really do
not have a unifying architecture], the architecture of a typical XML application, 
system architectures in which XML is most likely to be a key component, or what?
