A slightly better honorarium can be had for writing a chapter 
on some knotty subject.   It can be a blow to later discover 
that while one is paid and might even be thanked in the 
credits, no authoring credit is acknowledged and certainly 
no royalties.

About 1/10th of the author's honorarium, but unlike authors, tech
editors seldom get royalties, so it varies with sales.
