I think my son would disagree... but from the point of we 
technologists, I do agree that URI's were very important in defining 
"the web".

Has anyone noticed though, how URI's are becoming less and less 
significant? They've crept into everyday use to a point where the 
syntax is no longer noticed, nor is it relevant. I feel we are nearing 
a point where we might be able to stop exposing them to users...
