Everyone,

I am doing a web services talk to a user group in the uk in February.  The user group mainly uses one web programming technology, but uses Java or MSXML to do XML processing (so web services are a long way removed).

I need to find some resources that will allow me to go from the basics (ie what is a web service) to how to use web services and some sample apps.

Please can anyone provide me with some good resources to allow me to write a decent talk, and also to help me keep the talk as vendor-neutral and standards compliant as possible.  I keep on coming up with MS .NET stuff mainly or half-finished articles using J2EE.
