Appeal to authority will not fix the perceived problems of XML Schema.

XML Schema is approved and out the door. Apply it
and report problems uncovered in application.

Our bigger problem is being awash in a sea of too many
meta-specs without a clear framework for using them.

So who are the "real founders" of XML you are speaking for? I assume they
don't include Michael Sperberg-McQueen, Dan Connolly, Dave Hollander, Eve
Maler, and Murray Maloney since they were all part of creating the XML
Schema Recommendation.
