I believe I've referenced xml-dev in every XML book I've written, and
certainly in the acknowledgments of several. I'm on the road, but I'll try
to send citations this weekend.

From XML Elements of Style - acknowledgments:

Finally, I'd like to thank the XML community, especially the members of the
xml-dev mailing list, for its tradition of active and thorough discussions,
even on (perhaps especially on) the minutiae of the spec. Without that
community and its constant striving to make XML great, this book would
never have been written.

This list has taught me much.
