I have no problem with other applications using DTDs or W3C XML Schema
and I have no problem to find schema languages able to describe and
validate RSS 1.0!

Of course yes, and other solutions exists that solves this issue!

I would just like to keep the freedom that we have today to choose best
of the breed technologies that seems to be compromised by the new
architecture (and especially XPath 2.0)...
