That much depends on what "ASCII" means to you. As others have pointed out, NEL *is* a C1 control character in ASCII (ANSI X3.4-1986). In 7-bit mode, this is transmitted as ESC E, in 8-bit mode, it is transmitted as hex 85. Regards, Martin
