The InfoLoom Global Knowledge Interchange Seminar(tm)
Paris, France, 23(full day)-24(morning) January 2001
A 1 1/2 day seminar.

In a world where information tends to accumulate at an uncontrolled
pace, and where a multiplicity of standards tend to blur the global
vision, it is important to rethink the global vision of how to
pro-actively contribute in leveraging information assets in a company
to take benefit of the technologies just there or yet-to-come. Now
that database technologies and document technologies have been merged
together, one becoming an aspect of the other, the next challenge for
the years to come is the improvement of global knowledge connectivity,
on the web as well as everywhere else. This workshop will present the
current approaches which address these issues, including an overview
of the standards such as Topic Maps and its relation to RDF and
Xlink. We will focus on corporate memory management, and will discuss
the central role played by the Web as a common platform for
information interchange.

For: Strategic planners, executives, information managers.

The InfoLoom Authoritative XTM Workshop(tm)
Paris, France, 25-26 January 2001
A 2 day workshop.

This workshop introduces the concept of topic maps. We will start by
using our Topic Map Loom 4X software (participants will be granted a
license of use) to show that topic maps can be easy to create and
edit. We will then introduce the concepts of XTM (XML Topic Map
specification), and show how topic maps can be applied to business
applications and can enhance the navigability and findability of
information. We will provide a complete overview of the standard,
including the conceptual model, the syntax, and the processing model.

For: Project managers, documentation specialists, system implementers.
