Re: DTD specified by client or server?

Although XML as such makes no provision for this, several parsers,
including LTXML [1], based on RXP [2], allow you to specify a doctype
which is used for validation _regardless_ of whether the instance
has a <!DOCTYPE...> or what it is if there is one.  This is probably
what you want.
