XSLT provides 3 possible output methods (XML, HTML and text) and depending on the XSLT implementation you are using, you may be able to easily write custom output methods. If you want to go into this direction, you will find 3 examples of such methods (XHTML, HDML and formatted text) working with XT at http://4xt.org/downloads/examples/outputhandlers/. Hope this helps.
