I have been using the Lisp parser for DTD access successfully, e.g. to expand all the entities and re-print the DTD in its basic form, organised alphabetically and with all the attributes ordered. It makes it easier to see what is going on in a DTD that I have not seen before. Of course, XML Authority and the like are good for this too, and another approach is to use XML Authority to convert the DTD to XML Schema and then you have access to all the DTD, in another form, but you can access it as a standard XML document.
