Kudos to Arofan Gregory for this article at

http://www.gca.org/papers/xmleurope2000/papers/s21-01.html

It is a concise summary of the issues of developing message
oriented systems with XML versus the traditional practices
associated with monolithic document design. It correctly
emphasizes process analysis as part of the design but does
not overlook that in some cases, "tag sprinkling" as it
was once called is inevitable. One might also want to
emphasize the communal nature of negotiating long lasting
schemas as the lone wolf approach seldom results in
sufficient buy in. The comment on "serious" hypertext
is a bit gray but we are long past the days of wondering
why HTML succeeded while serious efforts failed. I think
it can be summarized in the crusty "onto" reps "phylo" comment.

Thanks to Leigh Dodds for reviewing this article at xml.com.
