microsoft trade role
> What precisely did they do wrong?

You can't use "Microsoft Kerberos" with a standard
Kerberos server in the way people need. Instead, you
must use a Microsoft server for new MSFT clients.
Special cases surely exist; but that's the shape of it.
(Switching those servers is major; they can have tens
of thousands of users. Something to strongly avoid.)

Oh, there's also various legal crap they've done with
the documentation for their protocol extension. Read
Slashdot for more. Effectively it's no longer a trade
secret, due to clear lack of distribution controls, but
it's clear that some court must now rule on such issues.
We know who can purchase years of legal delays.
