For those implementing DOM Level 2, you might be interested in
reading the Note which is part of the status of the latest CR:

"Note: The coordination issue affects the handling of namespace
URIs. The resolution of the coordination issue may necessitate
changes to the DOM Level 2 Core module. "

This should clarify which parts of DOM Level 2 may change when the
coordination issue is resolved. The other modules are, I think,
pretty stable now, due in no little part to the helpful comments on
the www-dom mailing list. Of course, someone *might* find some big
hole, but I think (hope?) that that is unlikely at this stage.
