It doesn't seem to do anything with the PUBLIC identifier in the DOCTYPE  
line (whether in the xml.soc catalog or some other catalog). I can only get  
it to work if I give it an actual filename in the SYSTEM id part (also, I  
have found some weaknesses in nsgmls when it comes to validating certain  
aspects of the DTD (it doesn't complain about all improper mixed content  
models for instance)). nsgmls does of course do the right things with PUBLIC  
identifiers when used within the DTD to specify external entity files to call  
in.
