Do we always have to pray to the gods of the major vendors to have any hope
of getting real work accomplished?  I'd think SAX (v1) might have put that
myth to rest.  XML isn't so complicated that you need a major corporation
to get real work done.

It might increase such likelihood, but it might also cut it off from the
user base that's created it and supported it.  While I realize that David
Megginson must be exhausted from the work, I far prefer his umbrella to
that of a consortium, however friendly.
