If attributes are defaulted to the element's namespace in SAX, and you build a DOM tree of the parser output, access to unprefixed attributes will be unclear in DOM: call getAttributeNS (null, ....) or getAttributeNS (elementNS, ....) ? Also, a DOM writer that follows the namespace spec, would add prefixes to all unprefixed attributes (!!)
