It's a non-problem for me too. All I'm referring to is that one of your emails said that you have three namespaces now, and then later you'll choose one of then to extend. I'm saying, yes, have three namespaces now, but that you will have to devise another one for extension - since you need the legacy ones to remain intact as long as there is ever any legacy HTML around to convert. So it's not three namespaces ... it's four. It was probably a slip of the tongue on you part in the original email. In fact, I'm not even sure if I can be bothered to press send it seems so obvious ... ooops Mark > -----Original Message----- > From: Ann Navarro [mailto:ann@w...] > Sent: 03 September 1999 14:30 > To: Mark Birbeck; xml-dev@i... > Subject: RE: How about over 1,000,000 XHTML Namespace URIs? > > > At 12:22 PM 9/3/99 +0100, Mark Birbeck wrote: > >Ann Navarro wrote: > >> However, moving forward from HTML 4.0, which is what the > >> future work in XHTML does, isn't necessarily bound. > > > >I know, but I'm being more specific; won't you have to leave > the legacy > >namespaces untouched when you move forward? > > Pardon the Friday morning confusion, but ....so? > > Have 3 now -- have 1 for modularization (or whatever the result is) -- > everyone deals with it. > Just as you'll deal with the namespaces from any other mix-and-match > portion that people will be coming up with. > > This really is a non-problem for me.
