I showed how XLink/XPointers could be used to achieve "parallel" markup then went on to discuss more philosophical issues relating to what assertions one is actually making when they mark up documents, arriving at the conclusion that the distinction between markup, content and presentation is a blurred, application-specific one (presentation is just another markup language, as is content).
