Yup, I'm an idiot. I was so obsessed about the other reasons why it might not be valid, that I missed the obvious one. Its too bad he doesn't have a listing of what he thinks is wrong with each file and why. That would save some trouble for the mentally/chronologically challenged such as myself :-) Thanks. See the WFC in 3.1 I wanted to do this on XMLSOFTWARE where I wanted to have an attribute Updated="&date;" where date was an external entity changed daily by a cron job. Instead I just made it an element rather than an attribute.
